Jack White In Hammersmith

Image
In the future people will remark that Rock and Roll was a art form perfected by scruffy youths who upon perfecting their art became known as Rock Stars, the latest and potential last Rock Star is Jack White. I'm certain we all know his music, he created the rawest blues and combined Led Zeppelin with Son House, with MC5 and then added a violin (in his latest album). White may be a eccentric know for his obsessions with the colour blue, the number three and his constant exclamations that Meg White is his sister, whereas she was his wife. The White Stripes are possibly the most iconic rock group of the 2000s with only indie rock artists possibly rivalling him (Arcade Fire, The Strokes, Wilco). His deformed mutated Blues captured the people in 2001 with "White Blood Cells" (One of my top 100 personal albums) and in 2003 "Elephant" confirmed his place in the rock canon (as has his various escapades and collaborations with classic rock artists such as Neil youn...

They rolled stones in Glasto

Last night one of the greatest band ever went to one of the greatest festivals ever with them they brought a anticipation to match no other at the festival as well as a seasoned set list of hits to rival none. Despite living roughly 8 miles from  Glastonbury itself i failed to get tickets so i had to cope with (as many of you did) watching them on the TV, so the first moment i got to see them they were mid-way through playing "miss You" and i'll admit to being disappointed in Mick and the boys as they were seemingly not getting the crowd up and dancing how wrong i was. Following this Midnight Rambler gained a almost euphoric feel from the crowd and i was busy contemplate whether the Stones are the best band i've seen on the TV. Mick then launched into the much-unspoken about bardic tale of "2000 years" from their 1967 album Satanic Majesties Request, claiming that "We're not going to do the whole of Satanic Majesties" and making myself a...
Many Moons have past since music last happily strode its way into schools and tore the pupils away from their textbooks. Many Moons have gone since the charts were last full of good old fashioned Rock And Roll. But Rock hasn't stopped its just been taking a breather, i mean the amount of drugs it did, come on now be fair, it deserves a breather. So how will this revival of music happen, well thats obvious in the underground, and im not taling about the teenage mutant ninja turtles. Im talking about the Underground, which was once laden in Velvet, the madchester underground. It's been here since Swing music and you can rest assured it will never leave us. This new generation of musicians, well lets just say I'm going to be championing them for the next while over this blog, in an attempt to make sure Bieber and his directions can surrender and waltz away (hopefully not to the last waltz). So follow me for a blog that reminises about the past and looks forward to the fu...
