Recently there's been a lot of discussion about the fact that Kanye West has said that he won't attend the Grammies if Frank Ocean doesn’t get a nomination. The reaction appears split many support West for attempting to credit to Ocean, who has recently two very popular albums in 2016, but there have also been those critical of West for doing so. However as it happens it might just be West trying to avoid having his suit ironed, because neither of Ocean’s albums were entered for the Grammies before the September 30 th deadline. In 1989 Will Smith, Flavor Flav, Salt n Pepa and other boycotted the grammies after the Best Rap Performance Award wasn't broadcast. Many have suggested this was done by Ocean and his team consciously for reasons unknown, but despite this West ranted about how Ocean deserves a nomination at one of his gigs on the 22 nd October. Let me be honest and let me be frank. I’m not the sort of person whose going to describe myself as faultless or without bias. Indeed no human can allow themselves those attributes. As such I don’t expect people to be faultless or unbiased. But when somebody, or a group of people, repeatedly defy the laws of probability and get stuff wrong time after time, I’m almost impressed. Because how can you be wrong so much, while maintaining enough prestige to make people, like myself, continue to check on what you do? Let's be honest in most music circles the Rock & Roll hall of Fame has become increasingly able to ridicule. However the Hall has always been destined to be ridiculed, it's concept of inducting only the best Rock musicians its very subjective and does not reflect on what 'Rock' is. To some Rock is simply the output of musicians such as Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry from the mid 50s to the late 50s. To most though Rock encompasses the guitar based rock since 1955. However many will argue that Electronic music, Pop, Blues, Folk, Jazz, Hip-Hop and every genre in between counts as Rock as Rock has influenced every popular genre of today.
